For this reason, the "ESTIMATE#" support all the features assigned to the "Invoice#" cell by Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software). For example, if you click "Save To DB" or "Save Invoice", a sequential, progressive and unique estimate# is generated automatically if the "Estimate#" cell is left blank (see our gallery page at Excel Invoice Template Automatic Invoice Numbering). With pure-Excel spreadsheet solutions, this automatic numbering is not possible without using macros. To display / retrieve an existing estimate or quote, you can simply enter the estimate# into the cell. With the support from Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software), the pure-Excel spreadsheet template is not only printable, but also enables features that could be hardly to implement with pure-Excel estimating and quoting software apps.
Here is a brief description of what implemented by this engineering service invoice or estimate template by using Excel formula.
To implement the features required by the estimate or service invoice template, there are a number of custom fields defined / added to both the underlying database and the front-end Excel template, as detailed in the following table.
The product# column is place to the left of the printable area. Although the term "product" is used here, you can actually use it for consulting service items. If you use the Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software) edition of Telecom Consultant Estimation Template, the product management features of the Excel Invoicing Software helps you management consulting service items, so that you don't have to enter the same or similar description text again and again.
Unlike an invoice form, a quote or estimate shows preliminary assessment of a project cost, so there is no need to use the "Deposit", "Paid" and "Balance Due" cells, so we move these fields out of the printable area. Please don't delete these fields are they are required by Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software). However, if you prefer, you can hide the columns where these fields are located.
Due to this difference, it is important to clearly identify the document type on the header - whether it is a quote or an estimate. It is also useful, at least in some business areas, to include an expiry date on the document, if your prices are subject to change on the time. In this sample, we added it as a custom field "ExpiryDate". This field is defined as "text (100)" in the backend Access database, and the corresponding cell is named "oknExpiryDate" on the top quote form.
Job Invoice Sample (2 Taxes) is a variant of Job Invoice Sample. It differs from the original version in that this template has two taxes configured on the bottom of the sample invoice form.
To design this invoice form layout based on its original version, we first unprotect the Invoice spreadsheet, display grid lines and row headings and column headings, switch to design mode. And then, we unmerge the "Part No." column (which comprises 4 Excel raw columns), move all the "Taxable" checkboxes to Excel column L. On each item line, merge the first 3 cells on column I, J and K to create the new "Part No." cell. Finally, replace the original label "Part No." with the new text "# / Taxable" to indicate the purpose of the taxable checkboxes. The following section describe the process in detail.
Once the spreadsheet is unprotected and switched to design mode, we can now start to adjust the columns.

Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software) supports all the Excel file formats, including the traditional ".xls" and ".xla" formats, and the new ".xlsx" (Excel XML-based file format), ".xlsm" (Excel XML-based and macro-enabled file format), and ".xlsb" (Excel Binary (or BIFF12) file format). ".xlsx" are now the most widely used workbook file format. Feel free to see our Invoice Template ".xlsx" topic page.
