For this reason, the "ESTIMATE#" support all the features assigned to the "Invoice#" cell by Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software). For example, if you click "Save To DB" or "Save Invoice", a sequential, progressive and unique estimate# is generated automatically if the "Estimate#" cell is left blank (see our gallery page at Excel Invoice Template Automatic Invoice Numbering). With pure-Excel spreadsheet solutions, this automatic numbering is not possible without using macros. To display / retrieve an existing estimate or quote, you can simply enter the estimate# into the cell. With the support from Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software), the pure-Excel spreadsheet template is not only printable, but also enables features that could be hardly to implement with pure-Excel estimating and quoting software apps.

To implement the features required by the estimate or service invoice template, there are a number of custom fields defined / added to both the underlying database and the front-end Excel template, as detailed in the following table.

Consultant Estimation Template includes 10 lines on the body section for you to itemize service details. Following the service details, there is a declaration that says "This invoice is an estimation based on our recommendation letter. The next invoice, due in approximately 3 months, will be based on actual savings. Any over/under estimations will be adjusted at that time." If you prefer to customize this estimate template for creating actual invoices, it's recommended to remove this declaration.

Although the "Item#" column is moved out of the printable estimate form, it is still functional - that is, Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software) still supports the "in-cell lookup" feature. Which means that, you can simply enter the item# into a cell to retrieve the description from the backend Access database, to avoid typing the same text again and again. If you have a very long product list, another tool provided by Invoice Manager for Excel (namely Uniform Invoice Software) could help, which is called on-sheet picker. When you click and select any cell on the item line, a litter button appear underneath the cell. Click this button to open a window that contains the full list of your products / items. On the top of the window you can find a "search bar", which allows you to search for an item by any field defined for your products - Item# (SKU#), description, prices, or even custom fields (if you use it).

The formula for "Line Total" incorporates both the auto-calculated portion, and the manually fillable field ("oknLineTotalManual_?" fields, placed outside the printable area, which means it is manually editable on creating invoices / estimations, but will not be included on printable invoices).

The "LESS" is also a manually editable field, which is designed as a percentage value.

Due to this difference, it is important to clearly identify the document type on the header - whether it is a quote or an estimate. It is also useful, at least in some business areas, to include an expiry date on the document, if your prices are subject to change on the time. In this sample, we added it as a custom field "ExpiryDate". This field is defined as "text (100)" in the backend Access database, and the corresponding cell is named "oknExpiryDate" on the top quote form.

Moving the location of a cell or field is easy in Excel. To do this, you first unprotect the sheet (if the sheet is protected), and then select all the cells or fields you want to move, and then drag the border of the selected area to move it to the new location. If you need to move an Active X control, such as the "select a shipping address" icon button, you first need to switch to design mode, and then click and drag the icon button to the new location - in this case, outside the printable area.
