This is the fourth template in our blank sales invoice template serial. With this customized format we reduce the lines on the invoice body so that each line accepts a longer product description.
Many businesses entities don't need so many lines on their invoice body as what offered by c2018 Blank Sales Format (No-tax), but they need more space on the description fields to write done more details about the products and goods offered. With this customized template, we hide a half of lines (6 lines) from the invoice body and make each visible line taller to fit multiple lines of text. In Microsoft Excel, a cell is able to hold much text than general product description needs, but there is one key option you need to set to have the text in the cell shown properly, i.e. the "Wrap Text" option.
By default, Microsoft Excel shows all content of a cell on a single line. This is true no matter what the data type it holds - be it text, date or numeric value. To change this default behavior, simply enable the "Wrap Text" option. To do this, first you have to unprotect the sheet, and then drag your mouse to select all the cells for which you want to set the option for, and then right-click one of the selected cells, choose Properties from the shortcut menu. This shows the Format Cells dialog box. Go to the "Alignment" tab, on the Text Control section, you will see the "Wrap Text" option. Check it, and then click "OK". This way, Excel will wrap text automatically when necessary.
As you can see from this simple example, it is easy and convenient to do formatting in Excel. By using various tools provided by Excel, it is not hard even for a beginner to create an amazing invoicing template. With this sample template, the base template is customized to show one tax (sales tax) on the bottom of the printable form. The tax amount is calculated using Excel formulas.
This simple blank template has two taxes on the bottom of the printable form identified by the Print_Area Excel range name. The detail section allows up to 6 products / items.
Sometimes an invoice is also referred as purchase invoice from the view of the buyer. This general-purpose Excel-formatted purchase invoice sample includes two editable/fillable columns, Description and Amount, and a Taxable checkbox column.
