Billing is a lot easier with a template, which could be in many different format, depending on which program / system you are family with - Microsoft Word "docx" format, Adobe PDF format, Excel spreadsheet format, OpenOffice.org sheet format, or even HTML format. You need to make you invoices look good and professional. A simple template, like what we offer here on InvoicingTemplate.com, could help you do that with easy - sometime you get even better results than a complex and expensive accounting or billing system.

This template is customized based on c4029 Free Designer Bill Template (Blue), which is suitable for web designer, graphic designer, freelancer, contractor etc. There are other variants of c4029 too here on InvoicingTemplate.com, like Free Designer Billing Template (Red), Free Designer Billing Form (Gray). If you are a freelancer, you may like to take a look at Free Freelance Bill Template. If you like a template that has its columns titled with "Hours" and "Rate", visit Beautiful Service Bill Template with Hourly Rate or Hourly Service Billing Template, Hourly Service Billing Sample (UK Currency), Free Hourly Service Billing Format (Price Including Tax) and Free Hourly Service Invoicing Sample (Price Excluding Tax). Each template here comes with a fillable PDF billing template along with an Excel spreadsheet format template.

Now let's take a look at this template c2024 Website Development Invoicing Sample (also named Website Development Billing Format) itself. As stated early, this template was created based on c4029. On designing this template, we moved the two existing columns, Quantity and Unit Price (or Hours and Hourly Rate) out of the printable form. Also, we removed the formulas of the Line totals cells so that it accept values that are manually filled in.

To move the columns out of the printable form, first of all the sheet must be unprotected.

The protection of the "Invoice" worksheet in Website Development Invoicing Sample prevents accidental modifications to layouts and formulas. If you have Uniform Invoice Software installed, it could even display a warning message when you close a template without protecting the worksheet. However for the purpose of this sample, we should firstly unprotect the worksheet in Website Development Invoicing Sample.

Moving a cell or a group of cells is easy in Excel. First, you click to select the cell or drag your mouse to select all the cells you want to move. And then, drag the border of the selected area to move it to the new location where you want to place the cell or cells. The moving content will overwrite the content in the target location, so make sure the target range is empty (not used) in Website Development Invoicing Sample before doing the movement. And, if the target location contains merged cells, sometimes the movement fails. So it is also helpful to make sure the target location does not contain merged cell. If the target location Website Development Invoicing Sample is overlapping the original range and the original range contains merged cells, the movement could also fail because you cannot change part of merged cell - if this happens, you need to first move the cells to a temporal location in Website Development Invoicing Sample that are empty (i.e. not used), unmerge cells, and then move the cells from the temporal location to the desired location. If you need to unmerge a cell, first select it and then click the "Merge and Center" command on the Format toolbar in Excel 2003; or click the "Merge and Center" command on the Home ribbon tab in Excel 2007, 2010 and Excel 2013.

The "Lock" property is a very useful feature in Excel. When you protect a worksheet such as Website Development Invoicing Sample, all cells are locked by default, which means that they cannot be edited. To enable cells to be edited while leaving only some cells locked, you can unlock the cells and then lock only specific cells and ranges before you protect the "Invoice" worksheet of Website Development Invoicing Sample. To lock a cell or a range of cells, first drag your mouse to select the cell or cells, and then right-click one of the selected cell on the form, choose Format Cells. On the Number tab, check the "Locked" box. To unlock a cell or a range of cells, simply clear the "Locked" box.

Tip: If you create a formula for a field or a cell be sure to lock it otherwise a warning mark appears on the cell. On the other hand, if you remove a formula from a locked cell in Website Development Invoicing Sample, unlock the cell to make sure it is editable when Website Development Invoicing Sample is protected.

Like other form designs here on InvoicingTemplate.com, Website Development Billing Format is free (offered to you at a price of 0.00USD). It works on Windows XP and all newer versions of Windows, and Excel 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016.
