If you give gifts to customers to express your gratitude for their business, you may like to show this fact on your bills and invoices too. This template addresses that by modifying the Excel formulas used for the line total cells.
This template design is based on the default template shipped with Uniform Invoice Software version 5. So it is a sales invoice template with 5 columns on the printable form and PDF gif invoices generated. To create this gift invoice template, we first move out the entire "Line total" column from the printable area. This clears the format (cell font settings, colors, borders etc.). Here is the tip to quickly restore the original format settings for the moved section: drag your mouse to select entire section that you've just moved out, click the "Format Painter" button on Microsoft Excel "Home" ribbon tab; and then click the column heading cell ($K$21 in this sample). Excel copies back the format settings so that the invoice form looks exactly like the version before the "Line total" column was moved.
The next step is to assign formulas to the "Line total" column inside the printable section (Remember the "Line total" column inside the printable form is now for displaying purpose only, the actual line total values saved to database are identified by a serial of "oknLineTotal_?" names that were moved out of the printable section). For example, for the first "Line total" cell, the formula assigned looks like this:
This Excel formula means that, if the "oknProductName_1" cell (i.e. the "Description" cell) is empty, the "Line total" shows empty too; otherwise, if the calculated line total is zero, it shows "GIFT"; otherwise the actual calculated amount.
Is your business giving gifts to customers when they purchase your goods? If so, you may like to show the gift on your bills. The technique described in this sample template could be applied to other templates too. If you are familiar with Microsoft Excel, this could be done within several minutes.
