How to Use

Assuming you have downloaded and installed Uniform Invoice Software:

  1. Download Form with Product Category. Double-click the downloaded file to extract all files.
  2. Open the template "form-with-product-category.xls" or "form-with-product-category-uis.xlsx" with Microsoft Excel.
  3. Click "Design Mode" on the "Invoice" Excel ribbon tab to put it into design mode.
  4. Enter your business information and replace the default logo image to make it your own. (How?)
  5. Click "Design Mode" again to exit design mode.
  6. Create invoice (tutorial movie)!

Detail

The main purpose of creating this invoice template on InvoicingTemplate.com is to provide a sample on using custom fields with Uniform Invoice Software.

If you use the freeware edition of this invoice template, you may find there is no much difference between this invoice template and the default sales invoice template shipped with Uniform Invoice Software. The only difference appears outside the printable area on the center of the form, where you can find a Product Category column near the invoice body.

"Product Category" is a standard field defined in the Product database table, but not added to the "Invoice Body" database table. So when you create an invoice with Uniform Invoice Software, the category information is not loaded along with product data, and thus not saved along with other invoice details.

However the support for custom fields in Uniform Invoice Software makes overcoming this limitation easy and quick. What you need to do is to add the custom field "Product Category" to the invoice body database table, and then name a column of cells where you want to display the category when creating an invoice - in this sample, we don't want to show product category on printed invoices, so the product category column is defined outside the printable area.
