The usual "Bill To" section is now renamed to "Agency". The labels in this section include "Account Number", "Name", "Department", "Contact or Operator", "Vehicle Number" - the later 3 fields are custom fields that are not defined in the default Access database file shipped with Uniform Invoice Software.

To make this template work with Uniform Invoice Software, Contractor Billing Format adopts tricks. First, the most left column on the visible (and printable) area was a custom field "ItemLine", which was continuously named from "oknItemLine_1" to "oknItemLine_18", to tell Uniform Invoice Software that there are 18 lines on the invoice detail section. The other columns, such as "DATE", "DETAILS" and "AMOUNT", has an interruption in their name serials. For example, "oknItemDate_1" to "oknItemDate_6" are put onto same column, "oknItemDate_7" to "oknItemDate_12" are put onto another column outside the printable area, and "oknItemDate_13" to "oknItemDate_18" are put onto the same column as "oknItemDate_1" to "oknItemDate_6". This is necessary because the space for "oknItemDate_7" to "oknItemDate_12" is used by the tax and amount cells.

Like most other invoice templates available here on, the engineering invoice template has a "Print Area" name defined which refers to the area on the center of the spreadsheet form. This is the printable area that defines the actual invoice format and layout. If you click the Print button on the invoice form of the Uniform Invoice Software version, or click the "Print" command in Excel, only the section defined by the "Print Area" name will be printed. And similarly, if you execute "Extract" command in Uniform Invoice Software, only the section referred by the "Print Area" will be kept.

The template has two columns - Description and Total. Both are manually editable fields on the Excel form.

Once the template is in design mode, drag your mouse to select all the cells that you want to move, then push your mouse key down on the border of the selected area and without releasing the mouse key, drag the selected to its new location. It's that simple! Once finished, you need to click the "Design Mode" button on "Invoice" ribbon tab again to switch it off, so that Uniform Invoice Software returns to its normal functional mode.
