According to Australian Taxation Office, tax invoices for sales of $1,000 or more need to show the buyer's identity or ABN. These invoices are also called ABN tax invoices. This ABN tax invoice template include space for you to detail the ABN codes for your business.

This template is a revised version of our original designs, Australian GST Invoice Template and Australian GST Invoice Template (2). With this new template, we move the ABN# field to the top of the invoice form, and also modify the layout of the form to make it looks better and works more smoothly with the latest version of Uniform Invoice Software.

At we commit to provide you with free invoicing templates that could be used standalone, or be run together with Uniform Invoice Software. The installer program of Uniform Invoice Software includes only one template, which we sometimes refer to as standard invoice template. All the other template here on, including this ABN tax invoice format, are variants of the standard invoice template. The sample template here on this site could be used directly, or be further customized to meet your business requirements. Whether you are a freelancer, home business or limited company or other types of small businesses, you can find a suitable invoice format here on

According to Australian Taxation Office, if your tax invoices meet the requirements for sales of $1,000 or more, you can also use them for sales of lesser amounts. So this template could be seen as a replacement of our original two formats. Furthermore, we redesigned the original "Taxable" checkboxes - in the original version, they are ActiveX controls; in this new version they are Excel / Office form controls. With the development of Microsoft Office / Excel, it seems that form controls get better support than old ActiveX controls. We've also moved all the "Taxable" controls into the printable forms, so that they will be included when printed (see the screenshot images below), or be included when you are generating PDF invoice (see all PDF invoice templates here on

If all your items are taxable or not taxable, you may not want to include the "Taxable" controls on the form. Don't worry. You can easily move ActiveX controls or Excel / Office form controls by following the steps below.

Once ABN Tax Invoice is unprotected and switched into design mode, you can now move the controls to the new location you like. To do this, click to select a control, or push the CTRL on your keyboard and then select all the controls you want to move using mouse. Then, drag (one of) the select controls to move them to the new location.

Note that if you use the Uniform Invoice Software and need to show the control on an extracted worksheet, then the control should be named with an "oknWidget_" prefix. For example, if you move the Taxable checkboxes into the printable form, then the checkboxes should be named with "oknWidget_" prefix, such as oknWidget_taxtable1, oknWidget_taxable2, oknWidget_taxable3...

With this revised template we also removed all the "looking up" (magnifying glass icons) buttons from the template, since Uniform Invoice Software is now included a useful feature that is called "on-sheet picker", which provides a smart button that shown automatically whenever you click a supported field / cell - by using this button, you can easily pick-up a customer, a shipping address, one or several product items, a sales person, a payment term, etc.
